Tree Risk Assessment Surveys in Esher

As a tree owner you may need to consider having a Tree Risk Assessment Surveys in Esher as you have a legal Duty of Care to take reasonable steps to ensure their trees do not pose an excessive risk to the public under the Owner and Occupiers Acts.

We provide bespoke survey packages in line with the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Tree Risk Assessment and Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) frameworks and provide clear and concise management options to meet this Duty and reduce liability.

For large tree populations, can tailor the survey requirements in line with your requirements.

We can carry out either a full inventory survey, detailing the physical dimensions and assessments of health and stability for all trees on the site, or work on a negative reporting basis whereby all trees are assessed in full, but only those requiring remedial tree surgery or removal will be recorded.

We can also work with you to identify areas of high, medium and low risk within the site boundary by assessing likely occupancy rates to develop an overarching tree risk assessment strategy.

In addition, our advanced tree risk assessment package may necessitate the use of specialist decay detection equipment to confirm or refute the presence of internal defects.

We can carry out invasive methods of assessment using a Resistograph™, which measures the resistance of the affected wood against the speed of the needle to produce a technical graph output.

Alternatively, or collaboratively, we can carry out non-invasive assessments using sonic tomography, which measures the speed of soundwaves across a set height of the tree’s trunk, and produces a 2D diagram of the internal wood composition.

A risk factor is produced and our software can aid in specifying appropriate levels of pruning if necessary.

Tree Risk Assessment Surveys in Esher FAQs

There are a number of different types of surveys and reports that you may need for different reasons. The most common ones include:

  • Tree Surveys for Planning
  • Tree Condition Survey
  • Pre-purchase Tree Survey
  • Subsidence Tree Survey

This type of tree survey is what you need if you are concerned about the health or safety of trees. During your tree survey we will identify defects such as weak branch junctions, disease or decay and we will assess how the structural integrity of each tree is affected. Your Tree Report will explain our findings and make recommendations to reduce liability and risk.

What is a tree survey for planning?

Tree surveys for planning applications are required where trees are within influencing distance of the development proposals. When building near trees, Local Authorities insist upon a professional tree survey to British Standard 5837: (2012) or BS5837. This is a standardised assessment of the constraints imposed by trees at your property or development site. We are specialists in undertaking BS5837 tree surveys for planning purposes.
